Formatting the microSD card is an easy way to remove its contents and free up space for new photos and videos. The original structure and partitions on the SD card are restored during formatting, which ensures optimal performance with Rylo. It's best to regularly format the SD card for the best experience.
Generally, you should format the SD card:
- if you need to quickly clear all content stored on the SD card
- regularly, between shots, for the best experience
- before you update Rylo's software
Important Note: Formatting the SD card will delete its content. Export and save its content before formatting it.
Formatting The SD Card With Rylo's App
- Connect Rylo to your phone and launch the Rylo app
- Tap
- Tap Format Rylo SD Card at the bottom

Formatting The SD Card A Mac® Computer
- Connect the SD card to a computer with an adapter
- Open the SD card on the computer; it may be titled as NO NAME or UNTITLED
- The DCIM folder contains the SD card's content. Copy and paste it to the computer.
- Open Disk Utility on the Mac
- Select the SD card
- Tap Erase within the middle of the screen
- Select Format and choose:
- MS-DOS (FAT) if the SD card is 32GB or less in size
- ExFat if the SD card is 64GB or larger in size
- A message will appear asking you to confirm the erasing process. Confirm this and the Mac will delete the contents of the SD card.
- Once complete eject the SD card from the Mac and then insert it into Rylo
Formatting The SD Card With A Windows Computer
- Connect the SD card to a computer with an SD card adapter
- Open Computer, My Computer, or This PC
- Open the SD card on the computer; it may be titled as NO NAME or UNTITLED
- The DCIM folder contains the SD card's content. Copy and paste it to the computer.
- Right-click on the SD card
- Select Format
- Select File System and select:
- MS-DOS (FAT) if the SD card is 32GB or less in size
- ExFat if the SD card is 64GB or larger in size
- Select Quick Format
- Click Start
- Once complete eject the SD card from the PC and insert it into Rylo
